Working Equitation East

Events and Activities
Our primary event this weekend is the USAWE Region 6 Championship show. This show is a culmination of the hard work and effort of our Region 6 competitors, and allows us the opportunity to celebrate them over an incredible 3 day weekend! Competitors qualify for this show by scoring an overall 59% or better and (depending on level) completing the speed phase in at least 2 licensed competitions in the past year, one of which must be in Region 6. This is the third year in a row Working Equitation East has had the pleasure of hosting the Region 6 Championships.

In combination with our Championship show, we are also hosting a WAWE recognized International Competition. WAWE is the World Association for Working Equitation and we are thrilled to bring a WAWE recognized event to fruition here in the United States. Working Equitation is still a young sport in the USA but has strong roots overseas, especially in Spain and Portugal. The opportunity to host a WAWE recognized event demonstrates not only the growth of Working Equitation in the USA but also the dedication of Working Equitation East to bring quality events to the Working Equitation community.
Our third event this weekend is the Working Equitation at Grange Park Equine Center recognized show. This show is a great opportunity for riders who might not have qualified for our Championship show, or have a second horse they are bringing into the sport, to have the opportunity to participate in the full experience of Championships! Competitors get to participate in the enrichments and events hosted throughout the weekend and share in the comraderie that is overwhelmingly present in our sport. Plus, scores can be put toward next years regional championship cycle!

The more relaxed format compared to our traditional 1-day shows also offers an opportunity to focus on each individual phase of the sport of Working Equitation. Single day shows can feel rushed and hectic riding the dressage, ease of handing, and speed phases all in one day. Spreading that out throughout the longer weekend provides an opportunity to appreciate each phase for it’s unique challenge and really learn some fun courses!
